Abstract
This review looked at research on the safety and effectiveness of topical HOCl in skin care. Forty-one studies were analysed. Results showed that HOCl kills bacteria, helps wounds heal faster, and is gentle on skin cells. It also reduces inflammation by calming the body’s immune response. Studies suggest it may help treat skin conditions such as eczema (atopic dermatitis), psoriasis, and itching (pruritus). New research also points to possible benefits in acne, seborrheic dermatitis, and even tumour suppression. Overall, HOCl appears to be a safe, effective, and versatile treatment for infection prevention, wound healing, and inflammatory skin diseases.
